Mesothelioma Types

Mesothelioma is caused mainly by the mineral known as asbestos. This mineral is found abundantly in nature and was quite frequently used in many purposes. As a result millions of people were exposed to this mineral and thus run the risk of developing this cancer. The mesothelioma is the cancer of the mesothelium which forms a protective covering around the internal organs of the human body. The mesothelium covering the lung and the chest region is known as the pleural membrane, and that covering the heart region is known as the pericardial membrane. The mesothelium surrounding the abdominal region is known as the peritoneal membrane. Majority of the cases that have been reported so far concerning this disease are of three types. They are the pleural mesothelioma, the pericardial mesothelioma, and the peritoneal mesothelioma.
