Mesothelioma Symptoms
Mesothelioma is one disease that is still confounding the medical scientists. A lot of research is being carried out to find a permanent cure of this disease. One factor that makes this disease all the more deadly is the non- specific nature of its symptoms. Majority of the symptoms of this disease are very much similar to the other more commonly occurring diseases. Some of the symptoms that are helpful in determining that a patient is suffering from mesothelioma are as follows:
Pericardial mesothelioma: When the asbestos particles find their way inside the heart region then they might result in the development of pericardial mesothelioma. The manner in which the asbestos particles reach the pericardial region is still under investigation. According to one theory the asbestos particles find their way into the heart region through the lung cavity by the lymph node system. Another theory states that the asbestos particles are directly ingested into the abdominal system. Some of the symptoms that a patient might show are chest pain, heart palpitations, irregular heart beat and coughing.
Pleural Mesothelioma: The presence of asbestos fiber in the lung and the chest region results in the development of pleural mesothelioma. Some symptoms that are indicative of this cancer are persistent cough in the chest region, pain while breathing, shortness of breath and fatigue, night sweats and fever and coughing up of blood. Majority of the symptoms are due to the bloating of the membrane and the building up of the fluid.
Peritoneal Mesothelioma: The presence of asbestos particles in the abdominal region leads to the development of peritoneal mesothelioma. Quite akin to the other forms of meosthelioma, the symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma are also very much similar to those of other commonly occurring diseases. Some of these symptoms are unexplained loss of weight, fever and fatigue, abdominal pain and digestive disturbances.
