Mesothelioma is very fast becoming a menace to the entire world. Millions of people all over the world were exposed to this dangerous substance which is the main cause of mesothelioma. The mesothelioma is the cancer of the membrane known as mesothelium that forms a protective lining around the majority of the internal organs of the human body. There are mainly three kinds of mesothelioma that have the highest rates of occurrence. These are the pleural mesothelioma, the pericardial mesothelioma and the peritoneal mesothelioma.

When the mesothelium surrounding the lungs and the chest region gets afflicted with this cancer then it is known as pleural mesothelioma. When the mesothelium covering the heart region gets afflicted with this cancer then it is called the pericardial mesothelioma. In the case of mesothelium surrounding the abdominal cavity getting afflicted with this cancer it is called peritoneal mesothelioma.

There are different ways through which the asbestos particle can find their way into the mesothelium. The asbestos particle could enter the mesothelium through inhalation, or through direct ingestion. People who work in the asbestos rich environment are the most likely to develop this cancer. In fact the people who come in contact with those who work in the asbestos rich environment are also at a risk of getting afflicted with this cancer.

Whatever the case might be, once a person gets afflicted with this dangerous cancer then it is very difficult to completely cure him of this disease. It is very much important that the use of asbestos should be banned in all the countries. We must actively work together as a society and make sure that this cancer is not able to overwhelm us in any which way.
